Welcome!

Welcome to the class page for Swans, the Year 3 and Year 4 class. I am the class teacher, and my name is Miss. Cupit. I am lucky to be supported in class by Mrs Marsh; our wonderful teaching assistant who supports Swan’s in the mornings.

In Swans, we like to work as hard as we can and learn as much as we can! We enjoy a challenge and like to express ourselves in different ways. We always enjoy participating in competitions and challenges! Particularly, striving for all the different reading badges, competing in interclass competitions or events and competing against each other on Times Tables Rockstars!

About Swans Staff

Miss. Cupit loves playing netball. When she is not at school, she is playing netball. Miss. Cupit loves the outdoors and being outside - no matter the weather! Her favourite lessons are when outdoor learning takes place! We are so lucky at Southery Academy to have such amazing outdoor learning facilities!

Mrs. Marsh’s favourite subject is English. She loves hearing children read and enjoys reading herself. When Mrs. Marsh is not at school, she enjoys relaxing in her garden, looking out at the gorgeous views of wildlife and nature.

Times tables

This year, we will be practicing our timetables through chants and songs, playing games, speed tables and TTRockstars! At the end of Year 4, the children will sit the Governments MTC (Multiplication Tables Check) which is out of 25. I know all the Year 4’s will do amazingly!

Our Learning

There are so many interesting units that we learn about throughout the year, we really enjoy getting stuck into the different units and learning in a variety of ways! We enjoy our PE sessions and we take part in Swimming lessons. We also like to learn about the wider community around us and to develop our understanding of the world.

Home Learning

We complete weekly home learning tasks that are beneficial and relevant to our learning in class, this includes our weekly spellings. In Swans, we have a 'can do' attitude, and we use a growth mindset. We believe that everything is achievable in school and beyond when we try our absolute best
