Ofsted result 2025 – this is a ‘Good’ school!
Following an inspection on the 26th and 27th November 2024, Southery Academy, part of Eastern Multi Academy Trust received an Ofsted rating of Good in all areas.
We, as a school, are delighted with the Ofsted result and this is a true reflection of the hard work, dedication and support shown by the children, staff, parents, governors, the Trust and the wider community. It was particularly pleasing to see the positive relationships between children, parents and staff recognised and that children are highly motivated to do well, as well as enjoying school and behaving well.
Ofsted also commented on:
Pupils at Southery enjoy coming to school.
Pupils in year 6 wear their blazers with pride and take on leadership roles to improve their school.
Pupils behave well
There are lots of things for the children to do at lunchtime.
Pupils show care, consideration and courtesy to each other.
the school has created a culture where pupils are accepting of each other. Bullying is not tolerated.
Pupils trust the adults in the school, and they are confident that they will deal with any problems that occur quickly.
Pupils take pride in their learning
The new curriculum captures pupils' interests. All lessons follow a clear sequence. This helps pupils to remember and recall prior learning.
Pupils with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) are fully included in school life. Appropriate adaptations and support enable them to enjoy the breadth of the curriculum.
The school and Trust provide staff with a range of training opportunities. This has resulted in strong subject knowledge and high teacher confidence.
Teachers talk of strong team spirit. They enjoy working at the school.
Ofsted was very positive about the relationships that the pupils have with their teachers and also stated that the pupils work hard, enjoy their time in school and behave well, they are prepared well for the next stage of their education at all ages and are highly motivated to do well. All pupils are appropriately challenged at every level.
Mr Paul Shanks, Chief Executive of Eastern Multi-Academy Trust was very pleased with the result and wanted to pass on congratulations and thanks to all.
