Welcome!
Welcome to Swans, the Year 3 and Year 4 class!
Our class teacher is Miss Hattigan, and we are lucky to be supported in class by Mrs Marsh; our wonderful teaching assistant who supports Swan’s in the mornings and Miss Bradley; our amazing afternoon assistant.
In Swans, we like to work as hard as we can and learn as much as we can! We enjoy a challenge and like to express ourselves in different ways. We always enjoy participating in competitions and challenges! Particularly, striving for all the different reading badges, competing in interclass competitions or events and competing against each other on Times Tables Rockstars!
About Swans Staff
Miss Hattigan (Or Miss H for short) loves spending time with her family. When she is not at school, she often found playing with her son at home or at the park on the swings. Miss H loves reading. Her favourite author is Richard Osmond – although this changes all the time! Her favourite lessons are Reading and English. She loves reading all the amazing writing the Swans produce, especially in their Independent Writing sessions!
Mrs Marsh’s favourite subject is English. She loves hearing children read and enjoys reading herself. When Mrs Marsh is not at school, she enjoys relaxing in her garden, looking out at the gorgeous views of wildlife and nature.
Miss Bradley is new to Swans class this year! So far we know she loves to read, is a fantastic listener and is great at PE! We can't wait to see what Miss Bradley helps us learn this year.
Times tables
Each year, we practise our timetables through chants and songs, playing games, speed tables and TTRockstars! At the end of Year 4, the children will sit the Government's MTC (Multiplication Tables Check), which is scored out of 25. We know all the Year 4’s will do amazingly!
Our Learning
There are so many interesting units that we learn throughout the year, we really enjoy getting stuck into topics like the Romans, Ancient Egypt, sewing and electricity. We love learning in a variety of ways! We also enjoy our PE sessions, and take part in swimming lessons. We are such curious learners in Swans, we like to learn about the wider community around us and develop our understanding of the world.
Home Learning
We complete home learning tasks that are beneficial and relevant to our learning in class. This can range from bigger home projects like building and making to life skills such as tying our shoelaces. This also includes practising our weekly spellings, reading daily and home practice of TTRockstars.
