Welcome to Wrens Class!

Hello and welcome to the Wrens Class page! My name is Miss Cupit, and I am delighted to be the Wrens Class teacher this year. I am supported by Miss Hilton and Mrs Spratt.

Here in Wrens, we have lots of fun learning through play and exploration of the world around us. We provide a curriculum that is both creative and engaging, designed to inspire curiosity and a love of learning in all our children.

This year, we will be exploring the following exciting topics:

• Autumn 1: All About Me

• Autumn 2: Transport – Past and Present

• Spring 1: Space

• Spring 2: Growing and Changing

• Summer 1: Kings and Queens

• Summer 2: Stories from the Past

Children in Wrens Class learn through hands-on exploration, investigation, and communication with their environment. During continuous provision, they will be supported by the adults in class and encouraged to problem-solve, develop ideas, and experiment with new concepts through play. Weekly challenges will help the children build on their prior knowledge while discovering new skills and interests.

Alongside this, the children will take part in weekly adult-guided sessions in Maths and English, which will feed into their child-initiated play.

This term, we will also be introducing the children to phonics through the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised scheme. This approach will support them in making confident attempts at reading and writing, helping them to become more independent learners as they progress through Reception.

Throughout the year, the children will also enjoy daily opportunities for Mathematics, Handwriting, RE, PSHE, Music, and Topic lessons – making each day full of learning, discovery and fun!

A little bit about us:

• Miss Cupit loves running and netball. This year she completed her first marathon and is currently training for an ultra marathon!

• Miss Hilton is an animal lover and spends much of her free time with her own horse.

• Mrs Spratt loves spending time with her family and is always busy decorating her house.

We are all so excited for the year ahead and can’t wait to share lots of wonderful learning adventures with the Wrens!
