Welcome to Wrens Class Page!
We are a very friendly class of Reception pupils. Miss Leach is our teacher and we also have Mrs Porter helping and supporting us too. We are very lucky because we’ve got a bright and busy classroom, full of activities that help us to learn. We have lots of fun learning in and outdoors.
This year we are an early adopter of the new EYFS framework and this will give us a real opportunity to be even more creative with our learning. The planning for Wrens is very flexible and will change depending on the children’s current interests! Our events can help you to understand the class expectations and how we learn! You might even learn new skills such as understanding phonics! This is where we learn how to segment and blend sounds to read and write.
Below is the Curriculum plan for 2021-2022 for Wrens. There is also a Knowledge organiser for each term that will be used to help support both in school and at home.
The learning in early years is a balance between play based and more formal adult directed activities. Sometimes this means we get messy! So, when you see us playing with mud, water or sand, we are doing Maths – learning about weight and capacity. If we are outside, waving ribbons around or using the large wooden construction blocks, this is developing the strength and skills we need for writing, our creativity and gross motor skills. If we are running around with magnifying glasses and buckets …. have a look and you will see mini-beasts and plants as we learn to ask questions about the world.
We have also mapped out the learning we will be doing into more ‘conventional’ subjects to give you an idea of where the learning is focussed. This is below:
Please feel free to come and talk with me directly or arrange a time to come and talk with me if you have any concerns, questions or proud moments about your child!
Thank you for your support!
